AUGUSTA, Ga.--USC Aiken women’s tennis team participated in this weekend’s collegiate championship with six other schools representing the Peach Belt Conference, Carolinas-Virginias Athletic Conference, and the South Athletic Conference. The matches consisted of up to six flights of men and women’s singles and doubles teams. USCA had four singles players and one doubles team advance to the final rounds.

Junior Dominque Cassetori took the singles “flight 2” championship after defeating Skye Powell of Queens 7-5 and 6-0. During the semi-final round, she took down Ashley Abrams of Augusta State 6-3 and 6-2.

Cassetori and Mayra Kaefer nearly edged Powell and Merissa Rock of Queens during the doubles “flight 1” championship, but fell 9-7.

Kaefer and Rock met again in the “flight 1” singles championship where Rock came out on top 6-1 and 6-2. Elly Toth and Otovia Bastos also both made it to their flights finals for USCA but were stopped short by GC&SU players Anna Davidison and Sophie Intriago 6-1, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-3, respectively.

GC&SU women’s tennis team took home three singles and one doubles championship.

USC Aiken tennis has wrapped up its fall season and will begin season play at Queens University of Charlotte on Friday, February 3, at 2 p.m.
