COLUMBUS, Ga.--The Columbus
State Lady Cougars (6-4-0, 2-1-0 PBC) proved too strong for USC Aiken
(3-6-0, 0-3-0 PBC) on Saturday afternoon, handing the Lady Pacers a 5-0
loss in Peach Belt Conference women’s soccer action. The loss was
the sixth-straight for the young squad while CSU posted its third-straight
shutout.
Kellie Myles got the Lady Cougars on the board in the eighth minute of play while
Hannah Ospina netted the first of her two goals on the afternoon in the 24th
minute to give Columbus State a 2-0 advantage at the break.
Columbus State held USC Aiken without a shot in the opening 45 minutes and finished
with a 14-2 advantage in that department and a 7-1 edge in corner kicks. Melissa
Schnoering had both shot attempts for the Lady Pacers.
Sarah Hawkins made it 3-0 scoring off a Myles’ assist in the 54th minute
while Ospina and Lindsey Morgan added tallies in the 59th and 67th minutes to
round out the scoring.
Jacquelynn Hart recorded five saves in net for USC Aiken while a trio of Lady
Cougars registered two saves in the shutout for CSU.
USC Aiken returns home to host Wingate University in a non-conference contest
on Tuesday, October 4 at 7:00 PM.
