MILLEDGEVILLE, GA.--With the feeling of a playoff match in the atmosphere, the Lady Bobcats of Georgia College & State University (5-9-2, 1-5-2 PBC) downed USC Aiken (2-12-2, 1-7-0 PBC) 2-0 behind a pair of second half goals in Peach Belt Conference women’s soccer action on Saturday night at Bobcat Field. It marked GC&SU’s first-ever conference win in their inaugural season of play.

With the win, the Lady Bobcats receive the number eight seed in next week’s Peach Belt Conference Tournament and will play at the regular season champion Francis Marion Patriots. USC Aiken does not qualify for the PBC Tournament and ends its 2004 season.

Britni Emerson broke the scoreless tie in the 60th minute off a pass from Tracy Peterson. Exactly eight minutes later, Emerson added an insurance marker to make it 2-0. GC&SU outshot USC Aiken 32-14 for the match.

Michelle Parr made seven saves in posting her fourth shutout of the season for GC&SU. In net for the Lady Pacers, Shannon Hobbs stopped a season-high 13 shots allowing two goals in 90 minutes in the loss.

Nitza Maldonado had three shots on goal for USCA while Andrea Lloyd and Natasha DaCosta each added two.

An intense match with the winner advancing to the PBC Tournament and the loser going home for the season, two yellow cards, two red cards, and an additional two ejections were issued. In addition to a lopsided 15-3 tally on fouls against USC Aiken, the Lady Pacers had two yellow cards issued to them as well as a red card. GC&SU had one red card issued to a player.

USCA head coach Ike Ofoje as well as a bench player were ejected from the match without receiving any cards midway through the second half.
