KENNESAW, GA--USC Aiken’s women’s
soccer team lost, 8-0, tonight to second ranked Kennesaw State University
in the first round of the 2003 Peach Belt Conference Women’s Soccer
Tournament in Kennesaw, Ga. Katrina Hirsch’s two first period goals
put the game away for the 18-1-0 Lady Owls. The Lady Pacers conclude
their 2003 season with a 3-12-0 overall record. Kennesaw State will meet
Francis Marion in the semifinals on Friday.
Rebecca Hall scored the first KSU goal at the 22:15 mark. Four minutes later,
Alissa Saylor extended the lead to 2-0 on a shot to the left post. Hirsch’s
two goals sent the Lady Owls to the locker room with a 4-0 lead.
Kennesaw out shot USC Aiken, 32-2, as 13 different players recorded at least
one shot for the Lady Owls. Audie Beckman (Sioux Falls, S.D.) was credited with
both of USCA’s shots.
Four different players scored in the second period for Kennesaw State. Hall notched
her second score of the night at the 70:34 mark. KSU goalkeepers Jessica Marek
and Kristin Wellman combined for the shutout.
