SCHNOERING, RUSHING LEAD USCA OVER SHORTER 4-0
LADY PACERS RECORD SECOND SHUTOUT OF THE SEASON

AIKEN, SC--Melissa Schnoering scored three first period goals as USC Aiken’s women’s soccer team beat Shorter College, 4-0, today at “Pacer Pit” in Aiken, S.C. Senior Brooke Rushing assisted on two of Schnoering’s goals and scored one herself in the second period. The Lady Pacers improve to 3-9-0 on the season while the Lady Hawks fall to 3-14-0 overall.

Schnoering took a pass from Rushing on the right side, dribbled, turned and beat the Shorter College goalkeeper at the 8:30 mark to give the Lady Pacers a 1-0 lead. Schnoering finished off the first period hat trick with her fifth goal of the season with just under 16 minutes left before intermission. Rushing assisted on that goal as well.

The Lady Pacers out shot the Lady Hawks, 15-5, and held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks. Schnoering had six shots and freshman Rebecca Harris had three.

Junior Shannon Hobbs played the entire game in goal for USCA and recorded two saves.
USC Aiken will travel to Kennesaw, Ga., to play the second ranked Lady Owls on Saturday. The match will begin at 1:00 p.m.
