USC AIKEN WOMEN'S BASKETBALL REMAINS IN TOP 25
LADY PACERS SLIDE FOUR SPOTS TO 24th IN WEEK TWO'S RANKINGS
AIKEN, S.C.--Despite a misstep to Augusta State on November 28, the USC Aiken Lady Pacers (5-1) remained in the national spotlight, coming in at 24th in the second in-season edition of the USA Today/ESPN/WBCA Top 25 Coaches Poll, released Tuesday. USCA, ranked 21st in the preseason Women’s Division II Bulletin poll, found its way into the WBCA poll last week for the first time since December 12, 2002. (PHOTO BY: Scott Webster)
North Dakota retained the top spot in the land with a 6-0 record. Delta State, Washburn, UC San Diego, and Alaska-Anchorage remained two through five as the top portion of the poll was unchanged. Clayton State is the only other Peach Belt Conference team in the rankings, moving up two spots to 10th.
USC Aiken, which found itself just outside the top 25 at 29th in the preseason edition, garnered 97 points this week. After a 3-0 start to the season, the Lady Pacers stumbled at home to Augusta State 71-59 before rebounding with a convincing 74-68 win over Armstrong Atlantic State on Saturday. Not included in the voting period was the team’s 70-58 victory over Division I Winston-Salem State on Monday night.
USC Aiken will square off against Converse College on Friday, December 7 at 7:00 PM at the Convocation Center.
