AIKEN,

has announced two more additions to the Lady Pacers’ roster for
the 2005-06 season. LaToshia Broadwater and Satu Leppanen will suit
up for the Cardinal and White this year. Broadwater is entering USCA
as a junior while Leppanen will be a freshman.
“We are excited about the addition of LaToshia and Satu,” said Brandt,
52-40 in three seasons at USCA. “LaToshia is a local product and brings
valuable experience playing the last two seasons in a very competitive junior
college league. Satu will add to our depth inside and has also played against
some tough competition in Finland.”
Broadwater is a 5-8 guard from Augusta, Ga. A Richmond Academy product, Broadwater
was an All-Region player and defensive player of the year. Averaging 12.0 points,
6.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 3.0 steals as a senior, she earned a spot and
played in the South Carolina-Georgia All-Star game.
For the past two seasons, Broadwater has played for Florida Community College
in Jacksonville, Fla. In leading FCC to a 15-12 record this past year, she averaged
9.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 3.1 steals.
Leppanen is a 6-0 post player from Espoo, Finland. Playing for a competitive
club team in Finland this past year, she averaged 4.0 points and 2.0 rebounds
in 13.0 minutes per game. Over the past few years, Leppanen has also participated
in the Finnish National Team program.
USC Aiken finished 19-13 last season including a 9-7 mark in the Peach Belt Conference,
tying for fourth. The Lady Pacers earned the program’s second bid to the
NCAA Division II Tournament in the last four years. USCA returns two starters
and three letterwinners off last year’s squad.
USCA is a member of the NCAA Division II and the Peach Belt Conference. In 15
seasons of PBC competition, the Lady Pacers have won two North Division Titles
