SAVANNAH, Ga.--Junior right side Missy Deardorff recorded a rare triple double in the Lady Pacers morning 3-1 win over Presbyterian (5-6) as USC Aiken (11-2) rolled to a pair of wins on the final day of the 2006 AASU/Chatham Orthopaedics Classic in Savannah, Ga. Games scores were 30-23, 27-30, 30-20, and 30-22. In USCA’s final match of the tournament, the Lady Pacers blanked Florida Tech (2-7) 3-0 with game scores of 30-10, 30-21, and 30-12.

USC Aiken was playing their third and fourth straight matches without All-Conference middle hitter Mandy Gerolstein, currently third in the Peach Belt Conference in kills per game (4.00).

In the win over Presbyterian, Deardorff recorded 11 kills, 11 blocks, and 14 digs. She added one service ace and hit .321 in registering just the second triple double in the last eight years for USCA.

Laura Williams added seven kills and 11 blocks as the Lady Pacers combined for 18.0 team blocks. Stefanie Durham had 18 kills and 11 digs while libero Hayden Johnson led the defense with 15 digs. Setter Cheryl Barcas served up four of the team’s nine aces to go with 45 assists.

Against Florida Tech, the Lady Pacers hit .366, had 8.0 team blocks, and nine aces in the easy 3-0 victory. Shanon Sumter recorded 12 kills and four blocks for a team-best 14.0 points. Durham hit .500 with 10 kills while Deardorff and Amanda Timm each added eight kills. Barcas chipped in four aces and 31 assists.

“We put together a solid match from beginning to end,” said Will Condon, USC Aiken head coach. “We were able to consistently serve aggressively and make some runs. It was good to see our players step up for Mandy and Jasmine [Edney] who were out with injuries.”

USC Aiken will conclude its 10-game road swing on Tuesday, September 12 when the Lady Pacers travel to Hickory, N.C. to take on Lenoir-Rhyne at 6:30 PM.
