AIKEN,
S.C.--USC Aiken (7-8, 2-1 PBC) blanked rival Augusta State (3-16,
1-2 PBC) 3-0 in Peach Belt Conference volleyball action on Wednesday
night to give Lady Pacer head coach Will Condon his 98th career win,
making him the all-time wins leader in school history. Game scores
were 30-24, 30-27, and 30-23. It was fitting that the victory to put
Condon in the record books came against the team he has beaten more
than any other, owning a 12-1 career mark against the Lady Jaguars.

Missy Deardorff led the Lady Pacer attack with nine kills and five blocks hitting
a match-best .533. Laura Williams added nine kills and seven blocks (three solo)
while Veronica Seidle also tallied nine kills to go with 11 digs. Setter Rachel
Dalitz notched 28 assists to go with two blocks, two aces, and three kills hitting
.429.
Sarah Lobstein paced Augusta State with a match-high 13 kills while Carly Ley
added 11 kills. Meredith LeGrand had 18 digs.
As a team, USC Aiken out hit ASU .219 to .133 and recorded 12.0 team blocks to
the Lady Jags’ 7.0.
USCA used a quick start in game one to surge to an 8-2 advantage. The Lady Pacers
ballooned the edge to double digits at 23-13 before an 8-0 ASU run tightened
things up at 23-21. A Katie Baker kill and a Danielle Spice ace, however, created
some separation as the Lady Pacers won 30-24.
In game two, the score was tied six times early on until five-straight by USCA
pushed them in front 15-12 capped by a Deardorff kill. Augusta State began to
take control late in the game behind the strength on an 8-0 spurt, charging in
front 24-20. After tying it up at 25-25, the Lady Pacers fell behind again 27-25
before scoring five-straight including a pair of blocks by Williams and Deardorff
to close out the win 30-27.
With game three tied 9-9, a 10-2 USC Aiken run made it 19-11 as the Lady Pacers
cruised to the 30-23 victory.
USC Aiken improves to 27-6 in the all-time series with Augusta State.
The Lady Pacers will travel to Savannah, Ga. on Friday, September 30 for a
7:00 PM showdown with preseason PBC favorite Armstrong Atlantic State. Augusta
State will also play the Lady Pirates for their next action, on Saturday, October
1 at 3:00 PM.
