 AUGUSTA, Ga.--Jenny Lloyd recorded 15 kills
and 19 digs as USC Aiken (12-5, 2-1 PBC) downed the Lady Jaguars of Augusta
State (2-14, 0-3 PBC) 3-0 in Peach Belt Conference volleyball action
on Wednesday night at Christenberry Fieldhouse. Game scores were 30-23,
30-23, and 30-22. The Lady Pacers improve to 25-6 all-time in the series
with their border rival.
With the 15 kills, Lloyd climbs to third on the PBC’s all-time career kills
list with 1,414, passing USC Upstate’s Kristin Korte (1998-2001) and trailing
only North Florida’s Jackie Struck (2001-present) and the record holder,
USCA’s Kim Merrill (1994-97). In addition to the kills and digs, the senior
from Fife, Wash. tallied match-highs with five blocks and four service aces for
a total of 22.0 points.
Laura Williams hit .357 with six kills and four blocks. Veronica Seidle added
nine kills and nine digs while setter Rachel Dalitz registered five kills on
six attacks to go with eight digs, one ace, and 40 assists. Senior Jessica Lane
chipped in three of the team’s nine service aces. As a team, USC Aiken
hit .234 for the match holding ASU to .130.
Katie DeGreeff paced the Lady Jags with 10 kills and seven digs. Meredith LeGrand
added 11 digs while setter Jessica Lowes notched 27 assists and three of the
team’s five aces.
USC Aiken will put its perfect 5-0 home record on the line on Friday, October
1 when the Lady Pacers host #10 North Florida at 7:00 PM. The Lady Ospreys, the
seven-time defending PBC champions, have not lost a regular season match since
midway through the 2000 season, a span of over 51 matches.
