AUGUSTA, GA--All good things must come
to an end, unfortunately for USC Aiken (12-17, 4-6 PBC) that happened
Wednesday night as the Lady Pacers dropped a 3-1 decision at rival Augusta
State (14-12, 6-5 PBC) in Peach Belt Conference volleyball action. ASU
had not beaten USC Aiken since October 5, 1999.
Sophomore Jenny Lloyd led the Lady Pacers with 21 kills and 11 digs. Jessica
Lane and Jenny Lloyd each added 11 kills and combined for 27 digs.
Augusta State, winners for the fourth-straight time, was led by Katie DeGreeff
with 24 kills. DeGreeff rang up nine kills in the first game with the Lady Jags
winning 30-25. USCA rebounded with a decisive 30-20 win in game two.
Tied 28-28 in the pivotal game three, Halley Flynn and Ashley Abrams recorded
a block followed by a USCA attack error to take the game 30-28.
A 10-1 run blew open a tight game four as ASU charged ahead 27-17 and held on
for the 30-20 win.
Kaila White added 16 kills and 15 digs for the Lady Jags who hit .214 as a team.
Setter Rachel Dalitz added 53 assists, 14 digs, and four service aces for the
Lady Pacers. Freshman Brandy Johnson chipped in four kills and four aces.
USC Aiken travels to Greenwood, SC on Friday, October 31 to face Lander at 7:00
PM.
