ASSISTANT AD/COMMUNICATIONS AND PROMOTIONS

Brad FieldsBrad Fields is in his ninth year as head of the Sports Information Department at USC Aiken. After serving as Sports Information Director for five years, he was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Communications and Promotions in September 2003.

Fields oversees the publicity and game management of all 11 intercollegiate sports at USCA. In his time as SID at USCA, Fields has won 13 citations for excellence in publications by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), including 11 national awards highlighted by a “Best in Nation” and “Best Cover” for his 2005-06 golf media guide, and a "Best Cover" for his 2006-07 golf media guide. In September 2006, he received his second-straight CoSIDA writing award for coverage of the USCA golf team.

A two-time Peach Belt Conference SID of the Year (2003-04 and 2005-06), Fields has brought forth numerous innovations such as live stats, live audio and video web streaming, podcasting, and PacerSports.com, web site of USC Aiken athletics.

The 31-year-old Ashland, Ky., native earned his Bachelor of Science in Economics and Spanish from Centre College (Danville, Ky.) in 1998.

Fields is active within the ranks of Division II, serving as the Daktronics Women’s Basketball South Atlantic All-Region Coordinator for the past four years. He is also on the CoSIDA Video Streaming Committee and is a NCBWA South Atlantic voter.

Fields is married to the former Julie Krug of Oak Ridge, Tenn.

 

 ANDREW GAVIN
ASSISTANT SPORTS INFORMATION DIRECTOR

Andrew GavinAndrew Gavin is in his second year as USCA’s Assistant Sports Information Director. Gavin, a native of Madison, Ind., graduated from Centre College in May 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Government.

In his time at USC Aiken, Gavin has produced media guides for cross country, men's and women's tennis, and softball. The 2007 softball media guide placed seventh nationally in the CoSIDA Publications Contest for Divisions B and C. He was also an integral part of the redesign of PacerSports.com in the summer of 2007.

A former high school basketball player, Gavin played two seasons of NCAA Division III varsity hoops under head coach Greg Mason. In addition to playing a sport, Gavin got involved in the athletic department and completed a sports information internship that included writing press releases, updating the web site, and serving on the official statistics crew.

Gavin was also involved in other aspects of campus life, serving on student government as well as completing a term as president of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
