USC Aiken Cross Country All-Decade Team Released

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken athletic department unveiled the 2000-10 Cross Country All-Decade team on Monday, Aug. 8, 2011.

The 2000-10 USC Aiken Cross Country All-Decade team features five student-athletes.

“I may be entering my first season as the head coach, but I know first hand that this is a top-notch group,” noted Pacer cross country coach Kara Kreutzer. “I look forward to helping to continue the tradition that these runners have helped establish here at USC Aiken.”

Nicole Maitland (2007-10) is a three-time All-Peach Belt Conference selection. She is also a three-time Peach Belt Conference All-Academic choice. Maitland owns the best 6K time in school history with a 24:20 at the 2009 Peach Belt Conference Championship. Maitland won the 2008 Blue Hose Invitational with a time of 19:47. The time is the second-best 5K time in school history.

Keely Gillespie (2010-pres.) was the 2010 Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Year. The first team all-conference performer in 2010 garnered the top 5K time in school history with a time of 19:34 at the 2010 Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational. Gillespie’s time of 24:21 at the 2010 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional is the second-best in school history.

Jani Linde (2006-09) owns the third-best 6K time in school history with a time of 24:51 at the 2009 Peach Belt Conference Championship. Linde’s best year with the Pacers was as a senior in 2009. She finished in the top 10 in all regular season cross country meets for the Pacers during her senior campaign.

Marcie Milner (2004-06) won the ASICS/Winthrop Invitational as a senior in 2006 with a 5K time of 21:03. Milner currently owns two of the top five 5K times in school history. She became the first Pacer to ever break the 20:00 mark with a time of 19:57 at the 2006 Gamecock Invitational.

Kelley Shemansky (1999-2002) owns one of five individual meet wins for the Pacers since 2000. She picked up the individual win at the 12th Annual Patriot Cross Country Festival on Oct. 15, 2001.

Over the course of the coming weeks, an All-Decade team will be released each week by the USC Aiken athletic department.
