Gillespie Collects School-Record 6K Time as Pacers Finish 25th at NCAA Southeast Regional

CHARLOTTE – The University of South Carolina Aiken cross country team finished in 25th as a team at the 2011 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional at McAlpine Park.

USC Aiken concluded its final meet of the season with a total team time of 2:22:39.00.

Sophomore Keely Gillespie (Belvedere, S.C./North Augusta) was the top Pacer finisher in the NCAA regional. Gillespie finished in 35th overall with a time of 23:42.8.

The time of 23:42.8 is the top 6K time in school history. The two-time All-Peach Belt Conference runner now owns two of the top three 6K times in school history. Her previous best 6K time came in a 24:21 at last year's NCAA Division II Southeast Regional.

Queens claimed the team championship at the Southeast Regional for the second year in a row with a total team time of 1:50:45.20. Montevallo claimed second place to advance to the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships for the first time in school history.

Lenoir-Rhyne's Kate Griewisch was the individual winner for the third consecutive year.
