Linde and Maitland Finish in Top Six at Blue Hose Invitational
CLINTON, S.C. - Jani Linde continued her top 10 streak and the University of South Carolina Aiken women's cross country team concluded the 5K 2009 Blue Hose Invitational on the Presbyterian College campus in fourth place as a team.
Linde (Columbia, S.C./Dublin Coffman) obtained her fifth straight top 10 individual finish to kick off the year at the Blue Hose Invitational, concluding her efforts in fifth place with a time of 20:41.00.
The winner of the 2008 Blue Hose Invitational with a school-record 5K time of 19:47, Nicole Maitland (Chapin, S.C./Chapin) finished directly behind Linde with a time of 21:08.00. The time left her in sixth place.
Four Pacers ended the 2009 Blue Hose Invitational in the top 22 in total with Nancy Meabon (Charlotte, N.C./Hickory Grove Christian) finishing her efforts in 21st with a time of 24:09.00. USC Aiken's Nikki Sidaway (Wiley Ford, W.Va./Potomac State) was one place back in 22nd with a time of 24:13.00.
USC Aiken as a team averaged a time of 23:19.80 to finish in fourth. Savannah College of Art & Design won the event as a team with a team time average of 20:22.80.
The Bees had the top three individual finishers with Tracy Koch winning the 2009 Blue Hose Invitational with a time of 18:50.00. The time was a course record.
The Pacers will next travel to the Sunshine State to run in Embry-Riddle's Eagle Classic in Daytona, Fla. on Saturday, Oct. 10. Things are scheduled to get underway at 9 a.m.
