Fourth-Seeded Pacer Volleyball Set to Tangle With Fifth-Seeded Bearcats

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball team will be the fourth seed in the 2010 Peach Belt Conference Volleyball Tournament hosted by Armstrong Atlantic State in Savannah, Ga. Friday, Nov. 12 through Sunday, Nov. 14.
The league office released the schedule for the tournament after the conclusion of the 2010 conference season on Saturday.
All eight league schools that participate in volleyball advanced to postseason play in the tournament.
As the fourth seed, the Pacers will square off against fifth-seeded Lander at 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 12 in Alumni Arena. Lander pulled off a big upset on Saturday, beating Montevallo 3-0 on the road to jump two spots and take the fifth seed.
USC Aiken and Lander split its season series this year with each earning a 3-0 victory over the other on its home court. The Pacers bested the Bearcats, 3-0, at the Convocation Center on Sept. 15. Lander earned a 3-0 win over USC Aiken on Oct. 6 in Greenwood, S.C.
USC Aiken concluded their 2010 regular season campaign with an overall record of 14-15. The Pacers ended their PBC schedule with a 6-8 record in league action.
Lander is 11-15 overall entering the tournament. They finished their conference slate 5-9 in PBC play.
The winner of the match between the Pacers and Bearcats will advance to take on the victor between top-seeded and 2010 PBC regular season champions Flagler College and eighth-seeded Augusta State. The four winning teams of Friday's matches will advance to the semifinal round in the Aquatics and Recreation Center held on Saturday, Nov. 13 with the championship match to be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 14.
