Volleyball Falls 3-2 to Augusta State
AUGUSTA, GA
– USC Aiken dropped the first match but fought back
to go up 2-1 before losing the next two sets and the match to
Augusta State on November 7. The Jaguars won 3-2 and beat the
Pacers for the first time since October 29, 2003.
The Cardinal and Navy fall to 15-13 overall and 3-6 in the Peach
Belt Conference while ASU improved to 14-19 overall and 3-6 in the
conference.
The Pacers lost the first set by a close 20-25 score before taking
the next two by the same 25-19 score. Being up 2-1 heading into the
fourth set, the Pacers fell by a 22-25 mark to push the match into
a fifth set. The Jaguars held USCA to a .174 attack percentage in
the fifth set to take it 15-10.
Senior Stefanie Durham had a team-high 28 kills with only two
errors in her 45 attempts. She also added 18 digs for a
double-double. Those 28 kills is a season game-high for Durham.
Sophomore Jessica Loper managed 10 kills while junior Lauren
Cedeno and sophomore Whitney Tabbert combined on 60 assists for the
Pacers.
The Jaguars Amy Hunt also posted a double-double with 12
kills and 14 digs. Jessica Howard tallied a team-high 18 kills,
while Jessica Hanson booked 16 against just two errors. Ashley
Zappitell racked up a season-high 55 assists.
The Pacers will return to the court on Saturday November 8 when
they head to Savannah, GA to take on Atlantic Armstrong. First
serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
