Minx Tabbed USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week

AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken redshirt freshman women's soccer player Carly Minx claimed the USC Aiken athletic department Student-Athlete of the Week award on Monday, Sept. 7.

Minx (Greensboro, N.C./Western Guilford) netted the match-winner for the Pacers in their inaugural victory of the 2009 season last Friday against Anderson in Anderson, S.C.

Shortly after Alie Brady (Summerville, S.C./Summerville) netted the first goal of the match for the Pacers in the 70th-minute, Minx in the 77th-minute acquired the win for USC Aiken when she scored off her left foot to give the Pacers a 2-0 lead.

Anderson scored in the 88th-minute on a Ashley Cotton goal, but the Pacer defense would allow no more to secure the Pacers' first win of the 2009 season.

The USC Aiken Student Athlete of the Week award is a newly created award. Each week the USC Aiken athletic department is going to honor one individual from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort.
