Box Score

AIKEN, S.C. - The University of South Carolina Aiken women's soccer team obtained their second straight Peach Belt conference victory and their fourth consecutive shutout victory overall with a 2-0 win over league rival Georgia Southwestern on Saturday evening at the "Pacer Pit."

On senior day at the "Pacer Pit," USC Aiken made sure that they would continue their shutout streak by holding the Hurricanes to just two shots. USC Aiken finished with 23 more shots than Georgia Southwestern in the match, taking 25 over the course of the match.

Once again though, the stout Pacer defense was the story in the match despite the resounding offensive difference in the USC Aiken win.

The Pacer defensive unit has not given up a goal in the last 416:19 minutes of game action dating back to their narrow 1-0 loss to Lander on Oct. 15. The Pacers have played the entire 90 minutes of the last four matches without surrendering a goal.

USC Aiken is now 6-10 on the 2009 season. The Pacers enter their final regular season game of the year against Georgia College & State at 7 p.m. in Milledgeville, Ga. on Wednesday, Oct. 28 with a 2-7 record in the PBC.

USC Aiken netminder Nicole Westphal (Springfield, Va./Paul VI Catholic) only needed to make one save in the Pacer win, but she nevertheless captured her fourth shutout of the 2009 season in the match.

Senior Annie Whitley (Neptune Beach, Fla./Duncan V. Fletcher) made sure that she would leave her mark in her final match at "Pacer Pit" as she scored the first goal of the match and her second of the year at the 37:11 mark on a left-footed strike into the right corner from about 16 yards out. She was assisted on the goal by Brittany Paletar (Bel Air, Md./Milton Wright).

Jenny Pineiro (Charleston, S.C./Fort Dorchester) scored the final goal of the match in the 69th-minute. The goal was the sixth of the year for the freshman.
