Vodicka Releases 2009 USC Aiken Women’s Soccer Schedule

AIKEN, S.C. – USC Aiken head women’s soccer coach Sue Vodicka released the 2009 women’s soccer schedule on Monday, June 8, 2009.

“I am really excited about the upcoming season,” remarked Vodicka. “After the great work undertaken by the team this spring and the addition of assistant coach Hank Deer, I am really looking forward to getting back on the field this August for what should be a great season.”

The 2009 women’s soccer schedules features a full Peach Belt Conference slate and seven home games at the “Pacer Pit.”

The Pacers will open the 2009 regular season with three road non-conference games. USC Aiken’s 2009 campaign commences with a 2 p.m. tilt against Newberry on Saturday, Aug. 29 in Newberry, S.C.

After two road non-league outings against Anderson (4 p.m. – Sept. 3) and Pfeiffer (4 p.m. – Sept. 9), USC Aiken will play host to its first home game and Peach Belt Conference game against North Georgia at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12.

The Pacers will then welcome the South Atlantic Conference’s Mars Hill to the “Pacer Pit” at 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 21. The contest against the Lions is sandwiched in-between a road non-conference game against Coker (6 p.m. – Sept. 15) and a road league contest against defending conference champion Columbus State in Columbus, Ga. on Saturday, Sept. 26.

The match with the Cougars will give way to the Pacers’ first homestand of the year with the Pacers scheduled to take on conference rivals Armstrong Atlantic State and Flagler in two straight outings. The Pacers’ two-game homestand begins with a 6 p.m. contest against the Pirates at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30.

The Pacers will open the third month of the soccer season with a home match against its newest conference rival Flagler at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3.

USC Aiken takes to the road after the two home league contests for three more road games, beginning with a game against UNC Pembroke (4 p.m. – Oct. 7) in Pembroke, N.C.

A few days after tangling with the Braves, USC Aiken will hit the road once again to take on new conference member Montevallo at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10. The Pacers’ tough league three-game road stretch will finish with a contest against Lander at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14 in Greenwood, S.C.

The Pacers will close out the 2009 regular season by playing host to three of their final five games.

The final five matches of the year for USC Aiken begins with four consecutive matches against squads in which they picked up a positive result last year. The stretch opens against Clayton State at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17. The Pacers downed the Lakers 2-0 last year in Morrow, Ga.

USC Aiken will then head to Due West, S.C. to take on the Flying Fleet of Erskine (6 p.m. – Oct. 20) before playing host to two consecutive home games. The Pacers downed the Flying Fleet 2-1 in double overtime at the “Pacer Pit” in the 2008 campaign.

USC Aiken will open the first of a season-high tying two straight home games against Converse at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22. The Pacers bested the Valkyries 3-0 in Spartanburg, S.C. in 2008.

The curtains on the 2009 Pacer home women’s soccer campaign will draw to a close at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24 against Georgia Southwestern. The Pacers and Hurricanes tied 1-1 last season in Americus, Ga. The final home match of the year will serve as senior day for the Pacers.

USC Aiken’s 2009 regular season will conclude with a 7 p.m. match against Georgia College & State in Milledgeville, Ga. on Wednesday, Oct. 28.

The Peach Belt Conference Tournament opens on Tuesday, Nov. 3 with the top eight teams playing at the higher seed. The final four will advance to the PBC Tournament Championship to be contested Nov. 6-8 at Blanchard Woods Park in Evans, Ga.
