Pacers Move Up Two Spots in Latest National Poll

LILBURN, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women’s basketball team moved up two spots to 21st in the latest USA Today/ESPN Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll.

The Pacers were ranked 17th in the preseason USA Today/ESPN Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll. In the first regular season poll of the 2011-12 on Nov. 22, USC Aiken checked in at No. 23.

USC Aiken is one of two Peach Belt Conference teams ranked in the top 25. Clayton State is the highest ranked PBC school at No. 6.

The Pacer women’s basketball team opens the upcoming week riding a three-game winning streak.

The Pacers won both of their games this past week at the Comfort Suites Classic at Goodman Gymnasium on the campus of Catawba.

USC Aiken commenced the Comfort Suites Classic with a 62-53 victory over host Catawba on Friday, Nov. 25. The Pacers closed out their week with a hard fought 68-62 win over then No. 29 Barton.

USC Aiken is now 4-1 overall.

USC Aiken has been in the Top-25 for at least one week in four of the last five seasons.

The Pacers were ranked as high as eighth nationally and finished the year ranked a program-best 13th in the final poll of the 2010-11 season. The Pacers would close the year by being ranked in the final 12 polls of the 2011-12 season.

USC Aiken has now been ranked in 15 straight USA Today/ESPN Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll.

The Pacers will next begin the month of December by facing off against Limestone for the second consecutive year. The contest is USC Aiken’s only game on the week.

The Pacers will host the Saints at the Convocation Center at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1. USC Aiken owns an 18-7 all-time series advantage over Limestone after last year's win over the Saints in Gaffney, S.C.
