USC Aiken Women’s Basketball All-Decade Team Announced
AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken athletic department and head coach Mike Brandt unveiled the 2000-10 Women’s Basketball All-Decade team on Monday, July 25, 2011.
The 2000-10 USC Aiken Women’s Basketball All-Decade team features 10 student-athletes on two teams.
"After just finishing my ninth year here at USCA, it was truly a pleasure to coach all of these fine basketball players,” remarked Brandt. “The three seniors that I just coached for one year - Cornwell, Szabo, and Nold - kind of jump-started the USCA women's basketball program in the NCAA Division II era. The other seven players helped us rise above that strong foundation which in turn has allowed us to reach this past year’s most successful season in Pacer history. Each of them are great players and obviously contributed on the basketball court. The other part of this equation is, that if I am not mistaken, each of them may have received some type of academic honor in their USCA career. They truly represent what we strive for with our women's basketball student-athletes."
A member of the Softball All-Decade team as well, Jami Cornwell (1999-2003) was inducted into the USC Aiken Athletic Hall of Fame on Feb. 19, 2010.
