Schirmer Tabbed South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week

AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball player Deandra Schirmer was selected as the South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week on Dec. 5, 2010.

Schirmer helped guide the Pacers to a perfect 3-0 record last week that included USC Aiken earning wins over Lenoir-Rhyne, 25th-ranked Francis Marion and Flagler.

In helping USC Aiken to the 3-0 week, Schirmer averaged a team second-best 10.3 points and a team-best  5.3 rebounds per game.

A native of Holton, Kan., Schirmer shot 76.5 percent (13-for-17) from the field on the week. She was 5-for-7 (71.4 percent) from the free throw line.

Schirmer's best game on the week came in helping the Pacers to their second victory over a nationally-ranked team in the 2010-11 season. Schirmer concluded the victory over 25th-ranked Francis Marion with 15 points and seven rebounds.

Schirmer was 7-for-8 from the floor in the win over the Patriots. She collected five of her seven boards on the offensive glass.
