USC Aiken Moves Up to Third in Latest Region Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS – The 16th-ranked University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball team moved up one spot to third in the latest NCAA Division II Southeast Region rankings.

The Pacers are one of six Peach Belt Conference teams ranked in the latest region poll with Lander (first), Clayton State (second), Georgia College (fourth), Francis Marion (fifth) and Columbus State (ninth) all in the top 10 in this week's region tally.

USC Aiken has won 12 of its last 14 outings with its only two losses coming at the hands of top five teams. On Saturday, Jan. 22, USC Aiken could not overcome No. 1 Lander and the weekend before USC Aiken suffered a narrow 66-60 defeat to No. 2 Clayton State on national television at the Convocation Center on Saturday, Jan. 15.

Overall, the Pacers are 17-4. USC Aiken is 9-2 in the Peach Belt Conference.

The 16th-ranked USC Aiken women will next play host to Augusta State at the Convocation Center at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 2. The contest is the first game of a Peach Belt Conference men's and women's basketball doubleheader at the Convocation Center with the USC Aiken men scheduled to take on the third-ranked Jaguar men immediately following the women's game at approximately 7:30 p.m.
