Leggs 18 Leads USCA to Road Victory Over NGCSU
DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Meredith Legg led five Pacers in double
figures in No. 23 USC Aiken’s 73-63 victory over North
Georgia on Saturday afternoon.
The win snaps a short two-game slide for the Pacers, who are
currently ranked third in the NCAA Division II Southeast Region in
addition to their national ranking of 23rd.
The Pacers overall are now 17-7 on the year. In third place
currently in the Peach Belt Conference, USC Aiken is 9-5 in PBC
action. North Georgia falls to 5-16 on the year with the loss. The
Saints are 2-12 in PBC play.
Already the PBC’s all-time leader in three-pointers made,
Legg (Huntersville, N.C.) continued her progression to becoming one
of only 14 in NCAA Division II history with over 300 three-pointers
in the win over North Georgia.
Legg knocked down a team-high three 3-pointers in the win over the
Saints to sit just eight three-pointers away from 300 with 292.
Legg’s 18 points in the win were a game-best. Legg was
6-for-11 from the field overall, hitting three of her five
three-point attempts.
Triahna Harris (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) had one of her
better games of the year in the win over North Georgia, hitting
five of her six shot attempts in the victory. Four of Harris’
five field goals in the game were from beyond the arc with the
sophomore knocking down a career-best four three-pointers in the
win.
Reigning two-time Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week Morgan
Johnson (Marietta, Ga./Presbyterian) hit four shots from the floor
to finish with 11 points. She also had six boards in the game to
lead the Pacers.
Johnson has now finished the last 11 games leading the Pacers in
rebounding.
Kendra Chandler (Aiken, S.C./Aiken) and Lindsay Sundberg
(Mansfield, Conn./E.O. Smith) were the final two Pacers in double
figures with each obtaining 10 points in the win.
North Georgia ended the game with four players in double figures
with Whitney Randolph leading the NGCSU offensive charge with 17
points. She hit six field goals in the game.
Both USC Aiken (47.9) and North Georgia (46.7) shot well from the
field in the game. Still, USC Aiken’s shooting performance
from the floor improved the Pacers to 14-2 on the year when
shooting a better percentage than their foe.
The Pacers shot a scorching 58.8 percent from beyond the arc in
the win.
The Pacers now have a much-needed week off before returning to the
court at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14 against Georgia Southwestern
