Kornegay Chosen Days Inn Downtown Aiken USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month
AIKEN, S.C. – University of South Carolina Aiken softball player India Kornegay has been named as the Days Inn Downtown Aiken USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of March.
Kornegay has now won the honor for two straight months as she was also named the Days Inn Downtown Aiken USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of February.
Kornegay was 8-2 with one save in the circle in the month of March. She made 12 appearances (75.1 innings pitched) in total on the month with 11 starts. Kornegay owned an ERA of 1.12 in the month.
In a 14-6 month of March for the USC Aiken softball team, Kornegay fanned 95 batters. She struck out five or more batters in each of her starts while collecting three games in the month with double-digit strikeouts.
The freshman from Eufaula, Ala. allowed her opponents to hit just .139 against her in the month of March. She pitched four shutouts.
Kornegay was selected as the Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Week on March 8 and March 28. She was also selected as the South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week on March 28.
The Days Inn Downtown Aiken USC Aiken Athletic Department Student Athlete of the Month award honors one student-athlete each month from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort.
Each month one winner will be chosen from an in-season sport.
