Follow the USC Aiken Softball Team at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional
HICKORY, N.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken softball team departed early Thursday to prepare for the 2011 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional at Bears Field.
The Pacers will continue preparations for the regional on Thursday afternoon with a practice at Bears Field.
The regionally seventh-seeded Pacers and the regionally second-seeded Lenoir-Rhyne Bears will then tangle at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 13 at Bears Field. In the first game of the day at 2 p.m., regionally third-seeded Armstrong Atlantic State will take on regionally sixth-seeded Carson-Newman.

USC Aiken is making its second appearance in regional play in the last three seasons. The Pacers earned their first ever NCAA Tournament bid in 2009.
The Pacers and the South Atlantic Conference champion Bears squared off earlier this season with the two splitting a doubleheader on Feb. 20, 2011 in Hickory, N.C. USC Aiken won game one, 1-0, before Lenoir-Rhyne (41-8) garnered a 7-6 win in eight innings in the second contest.
The 2011 USC Aiken softball team is currently 26-16 in the 2011 season. The Pacers finished play in one of the toughest conferences in Division II softball in the Peach Belt Conference with a record of 9-11.
Tickets to the regional are $7 each day. The tickets are just $4 for children 12 and under and students with proper identification.
The winner of each of the games in the double-elimination regional on Friday will face off at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 14. The losers of game one and game two will play at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. The loser of Saturday's first game and the winner of Saturday's second game will play at 7 p.m. with the winner of that game advancing to Sunday's championship round.
The first game of the championship round will be contested at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 15. If necessary, a second game in the championship round will be played at approximately 3:30 p.m.
The winner of the regional will advance to the Super Regionals on May 20-21 at the facility of the highest seed remaining out of the winner of the Lenoir-Rhyne and North Georgia regionals.
The NCAA Division II Softball Championship series will be contested May 26-30 at the Moyer Complex in Salem, Va.
