Pacer Softball Adds Williamson
AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken
softball team and head coach Jerry Snyder announced the signing of
Brittney Williamson to a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday,
July 14. Williamson becomes the sixth and final player to sign with
the Pacers during the offseason.
The Lexington, S.C. native played her high school softball for the
Timberwolves of White Knoll High School. She played travel ball for
the S.C. Elite with future teammate and incoming freshman Hillary
Stewart.
Like Stewart, Williamson comes to USC Aiken highly decorated, being
named to the North/South All-Star, All-Region and All-Area teams in
2010. She also earned All-Region and All-Area plaudits in both 2008
and 2009.
Her team’s MVP in 2010, Williamson concluded her senior
campaign batting .424, swiping 25 bases on the season. More
impressively, Williamson went her entire high school career without
committing a single error.
“Brittney is an excellent defensive outfielder,”
remarked Snyder. “She has a lot of speed and can run
everything down. Offensively she brings a solid bat, and is always
a threat to steal bases.”
Williamson concludes the 2010-11 signing for coach Snyder and the
Pacers, joining a Pacer squad that has shared much success
recently, including having been ranked nationally at some point
during the last two seasons. The 2010 Pacers were ranked a softball
program preseason-best, 13th in the National Fastpitch Coaches
Association Division II Preseason Top-25 poll, and remained ranked
well into the season en route to keeping the Pacers’ current
streak of 20-win seasons alive at seven.
