Weather Forces Pacer Softball to Cancel Opening Weekend

AIKEN, S.C. - Due to heavy inclement weather in West Virginia, USC Aiken's opening weekend of softball has been cancelled. No make-up dates for the contests will be scheduled.
USC Aiken was originally supposed to play two programs from West Virginia this weekend in West Virginia Wesleyan and Alderson-Broaddus.
This means that the Pacers will now begin their 2010 campaign on Wednesday, Feb. 10 at home at J.H. Satcher Field against Newberry.
The Pacers will hit the road for the first time for a twinbill with Queens on Valentine's Day (Feb. 14) in Charlotte, N.C.
The USC Aiken softball team was ranked 13th in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Top 25 preseason poll, which was released on Wednesday, Jan. 27.
The ranking is the highest ever preseason national ranking for the Pacer softball program. The Pacers concluded the 2009 season ranked a program-best 12th.
