Jones Tabbed as Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Week

AUGUSTA, GA. – University of South Carolina Aiken softball player Lindsey Jones was chosen as the Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Week for the second time in the 2010 season on Mar. 9, 2010, the league office announced.

Jones was previously named the PBC Freshman of the Week on Feb. 15.

Jones (North Augusta, S.C./North Augusta) secured a .381 batting average in six games last week for the Pacers, scoring five runs and driving in five more.

The North Augusta High School product went 3-for-4 with one RBI in the Pacers 5-1 win over Brevard and was a perfect 3-for-3 from the dish with three runs scored and three more driven in during USC Aiken’s 14-1 thrashing of Pfeiffer.

Jones also proved to be very stout on defense for the Pacers during the six-game stretch giving up no errors in 19 chances at third base where she has started in all 20 games for Head Coach Jerry Snyder.

She currently leads the team in batting average (.373) and on-base percentage (.417). Her .373 batting average has her currently 10th overall in the PBC for the 2010 campaign.

The Pacers will next travel to Mars Hill, N.C. to take on the Lions of Mars Hill on Mar. 12. The first pitch of the first game is scheduled to leave the circle at 2 p.m.
