Flessate Tabbed to Daktronics All-Southeast Region First Team
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – USC Aiken senior Toni Flessate was chosen to the 2010 Daktronics All-Southeast Region First Team as a utility player.
Flessate’s first team selection means that she will move on to the All-America ballot. The Daktronics All-America programs honor student-athletes in Division II athletic programs. The voting, nomination and calculations are all conducted by the school’s sports information directors.
The honor marks the second consecutive year that Flessate has been tabbed to an All-Region team as she was also named to the 2009 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NCAA Division II All-Region second team.
A two-time All-Peach Belt Conference first team performer, Flessate concluded USC Aiken’s 2010 season with a 15-11 record in the circle. Flessate also had one save on the year as she helped lead USC Aiken to a sweep of Columbus State by pitching the final inning in USC Aiken’s game one win over Columbus State on Saturday, Mar. 27.
For her efforts, she was chosen as an at-large member to the 2010 Peach Belt Conference All-Conference first team.
A native of Goose Creek, S.C., Flessate owned a 2.98 ERA. She ended her year tied for the Peach Belt Conference overall lead with a perfect fielding percentage (1.000) in the 2010 season. The category was one of seven in which Flessate was in the top 11 in the Peach Belt Conference.
Flessate overall dealt 172.0 innings from the circle with her opposition hitting just .245 against her. She had a total of 116 strikeouts on the 2010 season.
At the dish, Flessate finished her year hitting .248 (28-for-113) with 22 RBIs. She had a team-high tying five home runs in 2010. She had eight extra-base knocks in total as she also secured three doubles. Flessate led the team in multiple RBI games in 2010 with seven.
The Stratford High School product entered the 2010 season coming off a 2009 junior campaign that saw her end the year by being named to the NCAA Division II Southeast Region All-Region second team. She was a member of the Peach Belt Conference All-Conference team. She was also selected to the 2009 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional All-Tournament team and the PBC All-Tournament team.
Flessate will graduate from USC Aiken with her name etched in the record books in the top five of 10 different softball pitching categories including being in the top two in eight of those categories, including first in wins (54), innings pitched (625.1), appearances (104) and shutouts (15). She is second all-time in opponents’ batting average (.227), strikeouts (421), games started (85) and complete games (72).
