Box Score

VALDOSTA, Ga. - In a battle of top 20 teams, fourth-ranked Valdosta State was able to get the best of 17th-ranked USC Aiken, 7-2, on Saturday afternoon.

The loss was USC Aiken's first of the 2010 season. USC Aiken opened its 2010 campaign earlier this week by defeating Wingate, 6-3. They are now 1-1 on the year.

USC Aiken opened things off on Saturday by taking a win at No. 1 doubles with the Pacer tandem of Gregory Andrade and Juan Xavier Ponce downing the Blazer top duo of Phillip Pakebusch and Michael Kuech, 8-6.

The win at No. 1 doubles would be all the Pacers would be able to manage in doubles.

USC Aiken's second and final point came in the fifth singles flight. Valdosta State earned a victory in spots 1-4, but USC Aiken's Filipe Garcia was able to knock off Valdosta State's Kuech, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3, at No. 5 singles.

The Pacers will next travel to Columbia, S.C. to square off against in-state rival Benedict at 12 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11.
