Klaas Named USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week

AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken men’s tennis player Ben Klaas was chosen as the USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week on April 12, 2010.

In USC Aiken’s important region win over nationally-ranked Limestone last week in Gaffney, S.C., Klaas picked up a perfect 6-0, 6-0 victory over Limestone’s Henrik Nordquist at No. 5 singles.

Klaas (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia/Deutsche Schule Kuala Lumpur) also teamed with Nicolas Markiewicz to down Limestone’s Paulo Avila and Mike Stephenson, 9-8 (7-3), at No. 3 doubles. The victory moved the Pacer tandem to 3-2 on the year as a duo.

The USC Aiken Student Athlete of the Week award is a newly created award for the 2009-10 athletic year. Each week the USC Aiken athletic department is going to honor one individual from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort.
