Pacers Fall to GCSU in Battle of Top 20 Peach Belt Teams

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - In a battle of top 20 teams, the 11th-ranked Georgia College & State men's tennis team knocked off the 17th-ranked USC Aiken men's tennis team 6-3 in Peach Belt Conference men's tennis action on Sunday afternoon at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility.

Georgia College & State commenced the matchup of two of the best in the country by taking two of three in doubles.

USC Aiken picked up its lone victory at No. 1 doubles with the Pacer tandem of Gregory Andrade (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Juan Xavier Ponce (Miami, Fla.) knocking off the 16th-ranked GCSU duo of Jerome Leborgne and Joao Casagrande by the score of 9-8.

USC Aiken acquired their final two points at No. 2 and No. 4 singles. Ponce concluded a strong individual day by taking out GCSU's Johan Wadstein 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 singles. Filipe Garcia (Valinhos, Brazil) collected USC Aiken's final point at No. 4 singles by commandeering a 6-3, 6-3 victory over GCSU's Giovane Nucci.

The loss to GCSU drops the Pacers to 5-4 on the 2010 season. USC Aiken is still searching for its first league victory of the year. USC Aiken is currently 0-3 in the PBC.

USC Aiken will next take on Mount Olive on Tuesday, March 2. The Pacers and Trojans will play the non-conference match at a neutral site in Sumter, S.C.
