Seves Tabbed to ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team

AIKEN, S.C. – USC Aiken men’s tennis player Bruno Seves was named to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District 3 2008-09 Men’s At-Large College Division Team on Thursday.

Seves was a first team selection.

Seves just recently graduated from USC Aiken with a degree in Business Administration. Seves ended his time at USC Aiken with a 3.73 grade point average.

The USC Aiken athletic department Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Seves compiled a 16-4 record in singles in 2009. All of Seves’ matches were at No. 1 singles.

A 2009 All-Peach Belt Conference first team selection, Seves finished the 2009 PBC campaign at 6-2 in league action.

The Feb. 24 PBC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, Seves is presently ranked sixth in singles nationally and 22nd in the nation in doubles.

Seves ends his playing career at USC Aiken with a record of 50-9 in singles matches.

USC Aiken as a team in 2009 reached higher than ever before, coming in at a program-high No. 5 in the latest ITA Division II rankings.

The Pacers, who received a bye into the semifinal round of the Savannah regional of the NCAA Division II Men’s Tennis Tournament, defeated No. 25 Francis Marion to advance to the regional final against No. 1 Armstrong Atlantic. The Pirates were able to claim the regional title, but the Pacers still concluded the year 19-5 overall. AASU went on to win its second straight national crown a couple weeks later.

The Pacers as a team won 13 of their final 15 matches in 2009.

A native of Araraquara, Brazil, Seves is now eligible to claim ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-America accolades, which will be released in early June.

Sports eligible to be included in the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic Men’s At-Large program are men’s fencing, men’s golf, men’s gymnastics, men’s ice hockey, men’s lacrosse, men’s rifle, men’s skiing, men’s swimming, men’s tennis, men’s volleyball, men’s water polo and men’s wrestling.

The ESPN the Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-America program is administered by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
