Darezzo Named PBC Player of the Week

AUGUSTA, GA – Senior Dagoberto Darezzo has been tabbed Peach Belt Player of the Week for the week of April 6 as the league office announced today.
 
Darezzo is the second Pacer to be named to this honor as senior Bruno Seves was awarded this acknowledgement for the week of Feb. 24.
 
The senior from San Carlos, Brazil went 3-0 in singles and doubles play for the Pac­ers. Darezzo began by beating Navaneetha Baskaran of No. 17 Ander­son 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 then took out No. 14 Hendrick Bode of Hawaii-Pacific 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 as the Pacers pulled off the upset. Finished with a straight-set win over Phillipe Hogan of No. 31 Limestone.
 
Partnered with Edward Horne for doubles, the No. 9 duo defeated No. 5 Renato Assuncao and Philip Pakebusch of Anderson by a close 9-8 score. The Pacer teammates came back against Hawaii-Pacific for the 8-6 victory and closed out the week with an 8-5 win over the No. 19 pair from Limestone.
 
Darezzo holds the record for the most wins as a Pacer as he is 53-23 in singles and 62-21 in doubles in his career.
 
The Pacer men’s tennis team will return to action when they host the Flying Fleet of Erskine College on Tuesday, April 7. First serve is slated for 3:00 p.m. from the USCA Tennis Complex.
