2010 USC Aiken Men's Soccer Schedule
AIKEN, S.C. – University of South Carolina Aiken head men’s soccer coach Ike Ofoje officially announced the 2010 Pacer men’s soccer schedule on Wednesday, June 9, 2010.
The 2010 USC Aiken men’s schedule includes a full Peach Belt Conference slate along with nine home games at the “Pacer Pit.”
The Pacers hope to begin their 2010 campaign the same way that they closed out the 2009 season as USC Aiken ended last season by winning its final three regular season contests. The Pacers outscored their foes 11-3 during the three-game winning streak, while also downing national No. 13 Anderson at the “Pacer Pit.”
USC Aiken will tune-up for the 2010 season by playing an exhibition match against USC Salkehatchie at the “Pacer Pit” on Saturday, Aug. 21. The match is scheduled to kick-off at 4:30 p.m.
The Pacers will commence their 2010 regular season campaign on Thursday, Sept. 2 against in-state rival and regional power Limestone at the “Pacer Pit.” The match will get underway at 7 p.m.
Just two days after tangling with Limestone in their season opener, USC Aiken will hit the road for the first time in 2010 for a match with Catawba at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4 in Salisbury, N.C. The contest comes just a little under a year after the Pacers picked up one of their largest wins in school history with a 7-0 victory over the Indians at home during the 2009 season. The seven-goal shutout win was the third-largest in school history and it came in the first ever meeting between the Pacers and Indians.
USC Aiken will return home next for a match against Conference Carolinas foe Coker at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 8. The Pacers have taken three straight matches from the Cobras to hold an overall 4-2 series advantage.
The Coker match will give way to a season-long three-match road swing that begins with the Peach Belt Conference opener for the Pacers against North Georgia in Dahlonega, Ga. at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11. USC Aiken has won two straight in the North Georgia series to own an overall 6-4-1 lead in the series.
USC Aiken three days later will travel to Tigerville, S.C. to square off against the Crusaders of North Greenville for the first time in program history. The match is slated to take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 14. USC Aiken will then have a week off before next traveling once again to the Upstate of South Carolina for a match on Wednesday, Sept. 22 against Anderson in Anderson, S.C. The 7 p.m. match will begin with the Pacers clinging to a 5-1 all-time series lead over the Trojans. The series lead for the Pacers includes last year’s regular-season ending 3-2 home win over the nationally-ranked Trojans.
The Pacers will conclude its first month of the 2010 regular season with two home tilts against non-conference opposition. The Pacers will first play host to Newberry at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25 before welcoming St. Andrews to the “Pacer Pit” for a 7 p.m. match on Tuesday, Sept. 28. The Pacers own the series lead against both teams with USC Aiken owning a 6-3-1 all-time series lead over the Newberry Wolves. USC Aiken presently owns the series lead over St. Andrews at 6-2-4. The Pacers and Wolves played to a 0-0 double-overtime tie in 2009, while USC Aiken earned a commanding 4-0 win over St. Andrews last year.
The month of October for USC Aiken will begin with a road game in St. Augustine, Fla. against 2009 Peach Belt Conference regular season champion Flagler. The match is slated to kick-off at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2.
The USC Aiken-Flagler match is USC Aiken’s last road match until the middle of October. The stretch includes a season-high three-match Peach Belt Conference homestand. The first game of the three-game home set for the Pacers is a match against UNC Pembroke at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 6. The Pacers will then close out that particular week by welcoming Montevallo to the “Pacer Pit” for a 7:30 p.m. match on Saturday, Oct. 9.
The Pacers will finish their tough three-game homestand against some of the top programs in the Peach Belt Conference by playing host to 2009 Peach Belt Conference Tournament champion Lander at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 13.
USC Aiken will close out the 2010 regular season by playing three of its final four matches on the road, beginning with a 5 p.m. match against Clayton State in Morrow, Ga. on Saturday, Oct. 16.
The Pacers’ final regular season home game will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 20 when USC Aiken welcomes Francis Marion to the “Pacer Pit.” The match will serve as senior day for the Pacers.
USC Aiken will play its final Peach Belt Conference match of the 2010 season next against Georgia Southwestern in Americus, Ga. The two teams are scheduled to kick things off at 3:30 p.m. The Pacers are 4-1 all-time against the Hurricanes.
USC Aiken will close the 2010 regular season one week later against Belmont Abbey in Belmont, N.C. at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30. The two programs will be meeting for the first time since 2007, but USC Aiken owns a 3-1-1 all-time series lead over the Crusaders.
The Pacers finished the 2009 campaign with a 7-11-1 (2-6 PBC) record. The mark helped the Pacers earn a trip to the Peach Belt Conference Tournament.
