USC Aiken Ends Season With a 3-1 Loss to Lander

EVANS, GA – Sophomore midfielder Troy Watson scored the lone goal for the Pacers in the heartbreaking season-ending game against the No. 3 seeded Lander on Friday November 7 in the Peach Belt Tournament. The Bearcats defeated USC Aiken 3-1 at Blanchard Woods Park.

LU scored first when Martyn Bell took a direct kick from 25-yards out, unassisted, and passed the Pacers sophomore goalkeeper Milad Zareian.

About a minute later, Watson tied it up at one when he received a pass from junior midfielder Kazeem Ayodele for a shot 10-yard out. This was Watson’s third goal of the season.

Right before halftime, the Bearcats scored another goal that put them ahead for good. Bell served Adam Arthur the ball and he shot it into the back of the net for his 10th goal of the season.

Late in the second half Lander secured the win when Arthur put another ball into the net for his second goal of the net. He took a pass from K.C. Dunbaker and made a short cross from about 12-yards out.

The Pacers where outshot 8-12 but had an advantage in corner kicks 8-7.

Zareian had five saves on the day.
