10th-Ranked Pacers Finish Seventh at Will Wilson Tanglewood Intercollegiate
CLEMMONS, N.C. – The nationally 10th-ranked University of South Carolina Aiken golf team finished seventh at the Will Wilson Tanglewood Intercollegiate at the par 70 Tanglewood Park Championship Course.
The Pacers ended the three-day event with a total team tally of 884 (298-293-293).
Playing as an individual, Taylor Welborn (LaGrange, Ga./Darton) was USC Aiken's next best finisher. Welborn tied for 20th with a three-round score of 222 (78-72-72). Also an individual in the event, Gaines Milliner (Aiken, S.C./Aiken) was not far behind Welborn in a tie for 22nd at 223 (73-79-71).
In total, five different Pacers finished in the top 25 individually with JP Solis (Morelia, Mexico/Lico Morelia) and Mark Dickson (Edinburgh, Scotland/Firrhill) producing USC Aiken's next best countable scores behind Atkins. The Pacer tandem tied for 24th overall at 224.
North Georgia's Howard Duffin claimed individual medalist honors at the event with a three-round score of 207 (70-69-68).
Carson-Newman claimed the team title at the Will Wilson Tanglewood Intercollegiate with a total team score of 861 (290-287-284).
The Will Wilson Tanglewood Intercollegiate is USC Aiken's final tournament of the fall of 2011.
The USC Aiken golf team will open its 2012 spring schedule at the Seventh Annual Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate.
The Pacers are two-time winners (2006 and 2009) of the annual event.
