Carlisle Releases 2010 USC Aiken Golf Fall Schedule

2010 USC Aiken Fall Golf Schedule

AIKEN, S.C. – University of South Carolina Aiken head golf coach Michael Carlisle officially released the 2010 USC Aiken fall golf schedule on Tuesday, June 29, 2010.

The 2010 USC Aiken fall golf schedule will feature four tournaments in total in preparation for the 2011 spring campaign.

The 2010 USC Aiken fall golf campaign will begin with the seventh annual Kiawah Island Invitational. The tournament will take place on Monday, Sept. 6 and Tuesday, Sept. 7.

The Kiawah Island Invitational will take place at the 6,875-yard, par 72 Cougar Point Golf Course in Kiawah Island, S.C. Designed by Gary Player, the course was rated at “4.5 stars” by Golf Digest. The Pacers are three-time winners of the event.

After playing host to the Kiawah Island Invitational, USC Aiken will travel for the first time in the 2010 fall season to play in the Springhill Suites Intercollegiate at the par 72 Country Club of South Carolina in Florence, S.C. The Pacers are six-time champions in the event, having last won the tournament in 2006. USC Aiken claimed the crown in the tournament five-straight times from 1992-96.

USC Aiken will close the month of September by playing in the Maryland Intercollegiate. The tournament hosted by the University of Maryland will be contested at the par 71 River Marsh Golf Club in Cambridge, Md. The Pacers will be playing in the Maryland Intercollegiate for the first time.

USC Aiken will close its 2010 fall schedule by participating in the three-day NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Preview at the par 72 Tanglewood Park Championship Course in Clemmons, N.C. The tournament will be hosted by Belmont Abbey. The Pacers finished second as a team at the 2009 Southeast Regional Preview.

The USC Aiken golf team ended last year by finishing in the top 10 as a team in five tournaments over the course of the 2009-10 season. Ranked as high as 10th nationally, the Pacers closed out their year by finishing second at the Peach Belt Conference championship.
