Pacers Conclude Fall Campaign With Sixth Place Finish at Southeast Preview
CLEMMONS, N.C. – USC Aiken concluded the 2010 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Preview at the par 70 Tanglewood Championship Course in sixth place as a team.
The Pacers followed up a first round 301 as a team with back-to-back 292's to end the tournament with a cumulative team tally of 885.
Brian Amick (74-76-71) and Mark Dickson (74-73-74) were the top finishers for the Pacers in the event with the duo finishing tied for 18th at 221.
USC Aiken's Kyle Godsman (78-74-72) finished tied for 29th at 224.
Newberry acquired the team title in the event with a team score of 861 (295-282-284). The Wolves finished two strokes ahead of second place finisher Queens (295-286-282). UNC Pembroke finished in third at 881 (290-294-297).
The Wolves' Daniel Stanley claimed individual medalist honors in the event. Stanley carded an impressive 66 in the third and final round to finish at 211 (78-67-66). Carson-Newman's Liam Ashby (69-73-70) and UNC Pembroke's Jonathan McCurry (69-73-70) ended the event tied for second individually at 212.
The regional preview finishes USC Aiken's 2010 fall campaign. The Pacers will open their spring season in February of 2011 at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate (Feb. 21-22). The Pacers are two-time winners of the event (2006 and 2009).
