Letien Chosen Honorable Mention All-America Selection

NORMAN, Okla. – Days after earning all-region accolades, University of South Carolina Aiken freshman Hayden Letien has been named an Honorable Mention All-America selection.

The second, third and honorable mention Division II PING All-America Teams were announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Friday, June 17.

A total of 21 golfers were named honorable mention All-America.

A 2011 All-Peach Belt Conference selection and PING All-Southeast Region team choice, Letien finished the 2010-11 season for the nationally-ranked Pacers with a team-best 73.9 stroke average in 26 rounds played. His stroke average placed him in the top 25 in school history for single season scoring.

The Sumter, S.C. native recorded three top 10 finishes this past year, which included a third-place finish at West Florida's Argonaut Invitational. He was also sixth at the Lander Bearcat Classic and eighth at Francis Marion's Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate.

Abilene Christian's Cyril Bouniol and Alex Carpenter, Lynn's Ricardo Gouveia and Jose Joia, Cal State Monterey Bay's John Jackson, Jake Murphy of Coker, Chico State's Kyle Souza and Barry's Daniel Stapff were previously named to the PING All-America First Team.

Patrick Bauer of Sonoma State, Barry's Chris Carlin, Josh Creel of Central Oklahoma, Central Missouri's Matt Miller, Cal State San Bernardino's Kenny Pigman, Daniel Stanley of Newberry, Cameron's Jason Timmis and Georgia College's Joe Young comprised the second team.

Third-team honorees included West Florida's Otto Bonning, Daniel Claytor of Barton, Western Washington's Dylan Goodwin, Andrew Green of Central Oklahoma, West Texas A&M's Ben Hargis, Tyler Sheppard of Abilene Christian, Columbus State's Rourke Van der Spuy, Columbus State and Scott Yeakel of Cal State Monterey Bay.
