Letien in Seventh Place After First Round of Bearcat Classic
GREENWOOD, S.C. – Hayden Letien is in a tie for seventh place after the first round of play at the Second Annual Bearcat Classic at the par 72, 6,800-yard Greenwood Country Club.
The 17th-ranked University of South Carolina Aiken golf team concluded Monday's first round with a team score of 299. The score placed them in a tie with North Georgia for 13th.
Letien (Sumter, S.C./Sumter) carded a two-under-par 70 in the first round. He is one of two Pacers in the top 30 individually after the first round of action as Mark Dickson (Edinburgh, Scotland/Firrhill) is presently in a tie for 26th after posting a 73 in the first round.
Georgia Southwestern is currently in first as a team after carding a team cumulative tally of 281 in the first round. Tournament host Lander is tied with Barton for second place at 287.
Craig Gibson of Georgia Southwestern is the individual leader after the first round. Gibson carded a five-under-par 67 in the first round.
The Bearcat Classic was shortened to just two rounds after the first round was cancelled on Monday morning due to inclement weather in the Greenwood area.
The second and final round of the Second Annual Bearcat Classic is scheduled to get underway at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
