Pacers Conclude Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate in 11th Place

Final Results

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The 20th-ranked University of South Carolina Aiken golf team carded a final round 307 to conclude the Fifth Annual Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate at the par 72 Wexford Plantation Course in 11th place.

The defending champions, USC Aiken shot a collective 299 in the first round, but slipped a bit in the second and final round to finish with a total team score of 606 (299-307). The tally tied them with Richmond.

The Pacers had two players finish in the top 41 in the event. Kevin Grady (Woodbine, Md./Century) and Grant Carnie (Aberdeenshire, Scotland/Brevard) led the Pacers in the event with both tying for 25th place individually with a total two-round tally of 150. Grady was tied for 15th after day one with a 73, but he dropped four shots with a 77 in the second round.

Carnie was the opposite as he opened the event with a 78. He finished the second and final round with an even-par 72.

USC Aiken's Justin Thompson (North Augusta, S.C./North Augusta) ended his efforts in the Pacers' first tournament of the spring in 41st with a total score of 152 (74-78).

Wake Forest claimed the overall team championship at the Fifth Annual Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate. The Demon Deacons carded a team score of 583 to best host institution Francis Marion (584) by just one stroke.

There were two co-medalists in the tournament with Wake Forest's Lee Bedford and Davidson's Jack Taylor tying for individual medalist honors at 142.

USC Aiken will next participate in the Richard Rendleman Invitational in Salisbury, N.C. on March 1-2. The event is hosted by Catawba.
