Thompson Named PBC Golfer of the Week

AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Peach Belt Conference office announced on Thursday that USC Aiken senior golfer Justin Thompson was selected as the PBC Golfer of the Week.

Earlier this week, Thompson finished in a tie for sixth place and 10th-ranked USC Aiken finished in third place at the Springhill Suites Intercollegiate at the par-72, 7,062-yard Country Club of South Carolina.

Thompson (North Augusta, S.C./North Augusta) led the Pacers in all three rounds, concluding the first two rounds with a total score of 138 to sit in a tie with four others for fourth place after the first day.

Thompson finished the first round with a two-under-par 70. He followed that up with an impressive four-under-par 68 in the second round. In the third and final round he carded a one-over-par 73 to finish tied for sixth place with two others with a score of 211.

Thompson and the Pacers will next participate in the Laker Invitational at the par 72 Crystal Lake Golf and Country Club on Monday, Sept. 21 and Tuesday, Sept. 22. The tournament will be 54 holes over two days. USC Aiken will be participating in the event for the first time.
