Thompson and Pacers Finish 10th at Rendleman Invitational
SALISBURY, N.C. - Due to snow in the area, Tuesday's second
round was suspended, leaving the first round results at the 2010
Richard Rendleman Invitational at the par 71 Salisbury Country Club
as the final results.
Justin Thompson guided the Pacers in the single-round event,
ending the tournament tied for 10th place. Thompson (North Augusta,
S.C./North Augusta) opened things on the front nine on Monday with
a 34. He carded a 37 on the back nine to finish with the 71 in the
lone round.
Kevin Grady (Woodbine, Md./Century) was the only other Pacer in
the top 35 in the event. Grady carded a 75 to ended the tournament
tied for 34th.
The 20th-ranked Pacers concluded the Rendleman Invitational with a
total team score of 301. The score tied them with two others for
10th place. Coker and Newberry also carded team scores of 301.
Lander won the Rendleman Invitational, accumulating a team score
of 283 in the first round. Davis Lee led the Bearcats with a
three-under-par 68.
Lincoln Memorial's Eric Kennedy shot a four-under-par 67 in the
only round to claim individual medalist honors.
USC Aiken will next play host to the 13th Annual Cleveland Golf
Palmetto Intercollegiate at the par 70, 6,617-yard Palmetto Golf
Club in Aiken, S.C. on March 8-9. USC Aiken is the defending
champion in the event.
The 13th Annual Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate will
feature some of the top programs in all of college golf with Akron,
Clemson, College of Charleston, East Carolina, Elon, Francis
Marion, Furman, Georgia Southern, Liberty, Mercer, Presbyterian,
UNC Wilmington, USC Aiken, Winthrop, Wofford and Virginia all
participating in the tournament.
