USC Aiken Concludes Administaff Augusta State Invitational in 13th Place

Final Results

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The 23rd-ranked USC Aiken golf team concluded the 2010 Administaff Augusta State Invitational at the par 72, 7,161-yard Forest Hills Golf Club in 13th place.

The Pacers collected a three-round team aggregate score of 870. USC Aiken began the tournament with a 289 in the first round that was followed up by a 282 in the second round. The Pacers finished the event by posting a cumulative team tally of 299 in Sunday’s final round.

USC Aiken’s top performer in the event was Frederik Schulte (Koln, Germany/Herzogenaurach), who concluded his efforts tied for 40th with six others with a three-round tally of 217. Schulte was the model of consistency, carding 72s in both the first and second rounds before finishing the event with a 73 in the third and final round.

The third-ranked team in NCAA Division I, Augusta State claimed the Administaff Augusta State Invitational crown with a three-round total of 817 (274-270-273). Augusta State claimed the title by 16 strokes over second-place finisher South Carolina (833). Duke was in third at 843 (287-276-280).

The Jaguars had the top two individuals in the event with Henrik Norlander posting a final round 65 to move past teammate Patrick Reed for individual medalist honors with a three-round total of 201 (68-68-65). Reed was just two strokes behind with a 203 (66-67-70). Three players tied for third with a three-round tally of 206.

USC Aiken will next play in the 54-hole, two-day Peach Belt Conference Championship on Monday, April 12 and Tuesday, April 13. The tournament is hosted by Columbus State and it will be contested at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Ga.
