Grady and Schulte Named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars
NORMAN, Okla. – USC Aiken’s Kevin Grady and Frederik Schulte have been named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars. The announcement was made on Thursday, July 8, 2010 by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
The award is the second academic honor of the year for the duo as they were also named to the 2010 Peach Belt Conference All-Academic Men’s Golf team on Friday, May 7, 2010.
Grady and Schulte were two of 55 golfers in NCAA Division II to obtain the prestigious honor. USC Aiken has now had 11 golfers claim All-America scholar laurels in its NCAA era.
To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70-percent of his team’s competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II and NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 in Division I, II and III and 3.5 in NAIA. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
Grady concludes his Pacer career as a two-time All-America scholar, acquiring the award last year as well. Schulte is a recipient of the award for the first time in 2010.
A native of Woodbine, Md., Grady was a Second Team All-Peach Belt Conference selection in the 2009-10 season after finishing the year with a team-best stroke average of 73.9. Grady ended seven of USC Aiken’s 11 tournaments over the course of the season in the top 25 individually.
Playing in a team-high tying 28 rounds, Grady collected a low round of 68 in the second round of the Springhill Suites Intercollegiate.
The 2009-10 USC Aiken golf Most Valuable Player, Grady was honored at the annual USC Aiken Athletic Banquet at the end of April as the 2010 USC Aiken Male Scholar Athlete of the Year.
Grady graduated from USC Aiken in May with a degree in Business Administration. He ended his time as a Pacer with a 3.284 Grade Point Average.
Schulte finished USC Aiken’s 2009-10 campaign with a team second-best 74.0 stroke average. He collected three top 10 finishes over the course of his junior season for the Pacers, which included two top five individual finishes.
Schulte finished third at the 2010 Peach Belt Conference Championship. His best finish of the year came at the Will Wilson Southeast Preview where he ended the tournament tied for second individually. He collected his low round of the year in the third round of the Southeast Preview with a 68.
In the classroom, the Koln, Germany native is a Business Administration and Marketing major who currently boasts a 3.854 GPA.
