Pacers Begin Preseason This Weekend
AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken
basketball teams are set to open their 2011-12 seasons this weekend
with the start of preseason practice.
Both the Pacer men and women will commence their 2011-12 preseason
schedule with practices on Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Convocation
Center.
One day later on Sunday, Oct. 16, both the USC Aiken men and women
will practice, but the two teams will also have their annual
picture day.
The USC Aiken men’s and women’s basketball teams will
put a punctuation on the start of their preseason on Monday, Oct.
17 with the “Ace Jam.”
The special beginning of the basketball season celebration will
feature a dunk contest and a skills competition along with much
more.
The doors open at 7:30 p.m. with the official program scheduled to
get underway at 8 p.m.
The 2011-12 USC Aiken men’s and women’s basketball
teams will be unveiled to the audience at approximately 8:30 p.m.
on Monday, Oct. 17.
The USC Aiken women will open their 2011-12 season with an
exhibition game against Atlantic Sun Conference foe and NCAA
Division I institution Jacksonville at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5.
It will mark the second straight season USC Aiken has opened things
up with an exhibition against an Atlantic Sun school. Last year,
USC Aiken easily dispatched of former league rival and current
Atlantic Sun institution Kennesaw State, winning 79-61 at the KSU
Convocation Center on Nov. 3, 2010.
The Pacers will begin the regular season at home at 7 p.m. on
Tuesday, Nov. 15 against 2011 Peach Belt Conference Tournament
champion Georgia College. The contest will not be a Peach Belt
Conference game though.
For the second consecutive season, the Pacer men will open their
regular season at home against Voorhees. The Pacers and Tigers are
scheduled to tip things off at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16.
Last year, USC Aiken easily downed Voorhees in its season opener,
winning 108-63 on Nov. 17, 2010.
A few days later on Saturday, Nov. 19, USC Aiken will hit the road
for the first time in the 2011-12 regular season for a contest with
first-time opponent Elizabeth City State in Elizabeth City, N.C.
Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m.
