USC Aiken Men’s Basketball Team Figures Prominently in National Statistics

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men’s basketball team figured prominently in the first NCAA Division II men’s basketball national statistics of the 2011-12 regular season.

USC Aiken’s men’s basketball team is currently sixth in the nation in turnover margin at +7.2.

The Pacers are 10th in the nation in steals per game with 12.2 steals per outing.

Pacer point guard Re’mon Nelson (Columbus, Ohio/Canal Winchester) is 13th in the nation in steals per game with three steals per contest.

USC Aiken also received votes for the first time this season in the Dec. 13 NABC/Division II Men’s Basketball Poll.

USC Aiken (5-1, 1-0 PBC) commences the upcoming week in the midst of a four-game winning streak. All four of the Pacer wins in the winning streak have been by double digits.

The Pacers will begin their final games before breaking for the holidays with a 7:30 p.m. game against Armstrong Atlantic State on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at the Convocation Center.

USC Aiken will then play host to the 2011 Southeastern Tool-Don Cheeks-Dr. John Riley USC Aiken Pre-Holiday Classic. The 2011 Southeastern Tool-Don Cheeks-Dr. John Riley USC Aiken Pre-Holiday Classic will be contested at the Convocation Center on Friday, Dec. 16 and Saturday, Dec. 17.

The extremely competitive field will feature Elizabeth City State, Lenoir-Rhyne and Virginia Union along with the host Pacers.

The 2011 Southeastern Tool-Don Cheeks-Dr. John Riley USC Aiken Pre-Holiday Classic will get underway on the 16th at 5:30 p.m. with Lenoir-Rhyne and Virginia Union taking the floor against one another at the Convocation Center. USC Aiken will take on Elizabeth City State in the final game of the day at approximately 7:30 p.m.

The second day of the 2011 Southeastern Tool-Don Cheeks-Dr. John Riley USC Aiken Pre-Holiday Classic will begin at 1 p.m. with Elizabeth City State and Lenoir-Rhyne playing against one another. USC Aiken will close the event for the second straight year with a game against Virginia Union at approximately 3 p.m.
